Work At Home Art

can i study my A levels at home?
i have blackouts so i find it hard to go to sixth-form and because of this im taking a lot of days of sixth-form. i want to study biology, chemist, psychology and art as they are the subjects im taking now. i want to study at home as i find it easy to learn by reading of a textbook. is there anyway i can do all my work at home and go in for my exams?
It is normally possible to study A levels independently and then find an exam centre to accept you as a private candidate in order to take the exams. (Any exam centre (=secondary school or college) could accept you as a private candidate, though, in practise, only about 1 in 20 are prepared to consider it). This would work fine for Psychology, which has no practical work and is entirely assessed by exams. The Biology and Chemistry are harder to arrange as you really need to do some practical work as part of the course and part of the assessment is by practical/coursework which you would have to do in centre. Art is harder still as you would have to do the (40 hours?) coursework unit in the centre – it would not be acceptable to do it at home.
However, if you have a genuine medical problem then your school may be able to sort something out about your remaining on their roll, and come in in for limited lessons in order to get the science practicals done and sufficient Art. Talk to your Head of 6th/SENCO and see what could be worked out.
