Internet Based Business Plans

At the Crossroads When Starting an Internet Based Business
If you’re starting an internet based business, chances are you’ve done some research on how to get started, have an idea on the niche you want address, and have checked to see if the URL you want is available. Having taken these actions, you’re probably also getting a bunch of offers promising the easiest way to a life full of online riches. It’s here that you stand at the crossroads in online marketing. Take one road and your odds of success are slim and the journey will be accompanied by frustration, wasted time and money, self-doubt, and a lot more work.
Take the other and you’ll be on your way to starting an online business that meets or exceeds your expectations while delivering a ton of benefits. It’s an easy choice, right? The answer really depends on how vulnerable to temptation you are. The problem is that the temptations being offered to you are going to sound fantastic with promises of “previously unknown” paths to riches. “Previously unknown” can be switched out for terms like “easy”, “automatic”, and/or “lazy”.
Here’s the catch; the guys that are pushing these products are hoping that you’re just an opportunity seeker looking for the easiest “how to” out there. Their assumption is that after buying their product and spending a little time with it, you’ll be off to the next shiny object that promises an easier road to internet riches.
In fact, starting an internet based business has a lot in common with starting a brick and mortar type of business (except for the working in your pj’s part). Imagine leasing a space from a landlord that promised you success beyond your wildest dreams without knowing you or the business you plan to conduct. You might step back and wonder why you were being pitched with pie in the sky promises, right? Now look at how these get rich quick programs are being pitched to you.
The truth is that your online business is going to take every bit as much planning, work, and execution as an offline business. To start, that includes:
- Getting the right guidance to do the right things first
- Knowing exactly what needs to be done
- Developing a step by step plan to move your business forward
Starting an internet based business successfully will require you to avoid the temptation of the “copy this and get rich” pitches. They don’t work in the offline world, and they don’t work online either. Instead, start with setting your goals, develop your strategy, and then execute it. You’ll end up working less and achieve your goals much faster. These practices DO work offline, just as they will with your online business.
