Where can I find a work-at-home job online related to the field of education or teaching?

I have a AA, AS, BS in Elementary Education in Language Arts, and a MSEd in Curriculum & Instruction. I’ve worked through college as a volunteer, tutor, and substitute, but am now seeking a work-at-home position to be with my young children until they are school age, when I plan to enter the workforce as a full-time teacher.
I also have a teaching license.


In many communities, parents will pay top dollar for private tutoring by qualified teachers, and many are willing to do this in your home and at your convenience. I have personally tutored students for as much as $30/hr.

Another idea is to check with some of the major educational assessment companies (such as Pearson). They are always hiring scorers for various assessments, and some of these positions allow you to work from home.

If you are interested in working in the professional development aspect of the education field, you might look into becoming an adjunct instructor for an online class through a small university or community college. Many institutions allow experienced teachers to develop and teach classes in their area of specialization.

Finally, there are a limited number of alternative schools and programs that offer online classes to school age children. You will probably have to do a little searching to find them, but these “digital academies” and “e-learning schools” are out there, and they need teachers.
