online jobs now
Are all of these online job applications just advertising gimmicks now? Or are they real applications?

I’m not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but I have tried to apply for a number of jobs online lately – jobs I found through CarrerBuilder and Monster – and instead of a regular online application, I have to wade through a series of questions, like some kind of marketing campaign. Has anyone else experienced this? Are these legitimate sites? Are the apps ever really looked at? Any info you can provide is greatly appreciated.


It’s annoying, but I have had interviews based on these apps from Monster.com and the interviewers all told me that these questions are to help weed out those that they don’t want to interview. Basically, if the applicant can’t take the time to answer a few questions online, then the company doesn’t want to take the time to deal with them.
