How do I publish my work and make money?

Well, I was playing this game old game DDR and Audition online new game and I thought of something ‘hm, I could make a game of this on my Xbox” my brother taught me how to make a game and he’s at my house helping make a game about dancing. We use an old webcam and recognizer to recognize our movements to replicate our movements in IRL to virtual game and we plan to make money of it by selling our work but we need to patent it.

My real question is how do I patent it and what do I need to do first? I am not releasing a tutorial how we made its a secret sorry.


Patents are for inventions. Since you really aren’t inventing anything here as far as I can tell (maybe you are) you don’t need a patent; I think you’d just need a copyright. But if you want a patent, you’d need to contact a patent lawyer, preferably one with knowledge of video games, and file for a patent through the US patent office.
