leading online jobs boards
What was your absolute worst job interview?

A few years ago, after being unemployed in my profession for a few months, I decided to spread my wings. I created a fake resume in different fields, but kept the same employers. After posting online, I received a call for an interview as a High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) Chemist.

My degree is in chemistry and I knew a LOT of chemists, so I was jazzed…this job was mine!

Background: the way my engineering interviews work, I have the administrative interview one day, the technical interview a few weeks later. That is what I expected.

I went to the interview and aced the admin part. He told me to have lunch and my technical interview would be in 30 minutes!

When the Lead Chemist asked me “What software did you use with your previous HPLCs?” I answered “They have software for that now?!” I knew the interview was over. (In my own defense, in undergrad, we did HPLCs by hand, no software).

Needless to say, I removed all of my fake resumes from the job boards.

my worst was when i decided it was time for a company change and look at some job listings and found one right up my ally and applied for it (keep in mind im still working for my current company at this point) and then a few days later when im helping flip through applications for my partners replacement, imagine my horror when i see my own application in the pile! i applied for my own job with my same company!!! my co-workers still havent let me live it down.
