I am trying to switch jobs…Staying in retail – cashier/customer service to supervisory position?

Staying in retail for now though. I have work history from 2004 and have never been in a supervisory position. I would like to apply for a shift leader or assistant manager somewhere in Springfield, PA (19064). I would like to know what exactly would I have to do in either position? I know I would probably be taking over as manager sometimes, but I would like to know what are the duties. I am very aware of the stress factor, but right now I need to make more money while in online schooling for medical stuff. Please let me know or give me a link to look at to see what I will be getting myself into. THANKS!!!!!!!

I’ve worked in retail and have had experience managing shifts and being an assistant manager.

There are T&A duties (stands for Time and Attendance), disciplinary duties, scheduling, learning the corporate philosophy, handling money, learning the technical aspects of the job, learning how to reduce shrink, customer relations, ordering stock, rotating stock, inventory, monitoring when perishables go out of code….
