Why is my Dubai work visa is taking so long?

I am a Canadian citizen who has been offered a job with an American Company in Dubai. All the documents required for getting the work visa have been sent to my employer who then submit it to the Ministry of Labor in Dubai. They provided me with my application number through which I found online that my work permit had been approved by the middle of September 2008. However, till now, almost two months passed already, my work visa is not ready yet. I am always in touch with the HR in my company who always says that the PRO is telling them that the visa isn’t ready yet. The reason is unknown. I was told when I first offered the job that the work visa process usually takes from 3-4 weeks….So, can anyone help me with information on this? Is there a phone number I can call or a firm I can contact to understand what is going on? Thank you all in advance. By the way, I am outside the UAE right now.

I received a similar question latley. The reason for the delay was that he shares the same name as somenody who is blacklisted and CID is still investigating. If this is the case, the pro of the company should appeal to the Undersecretary in the Ministry of Interior to solve the problem.
